Total stations are common place on modern construction sites. SY0051
Predominantly used for one of two applications.
Surveying
The instrument can be used in conjunction with a detail kit
(which is provided) to measure or survey items on site and store
in the total station’s memory. This memory can be downloaded
later and used to create accurate drawings.
Setting Out
Sometimes also called Stake Out. The position of items to be
built can be input into the memory and once it is taken to site
it will give the relative positions of where items are, enabling
engineers to construct items accurately and quickly.
